The coronavirus pandemic brought a lot of changes to our AA world... Many of the events and activities we would usually hold were unable to take place. Without these expenses, our district was left with some extra money in our account.
In response to these extra funds and the struggles being faced by our groups and individuals in Dutchess County, we decided to form a subcommittee to come up with a plan on how to best utilize the money and be of service to our local AA members. Thus, the COVID Response Subcommittee was formed!
A handful of our dedicated district's trusted servants got to work coming up with project ideas to help give back to our community. The subcommittee is now up to about a dozen members, and they have ironed out a solid plan that they have begun to work on. Their approach included the following items:
Donations to our greater service structures
Care packages for beginners and anyone in need
A COVID relief fund for groups needing financial aid
Establishing a literature reserve for the district
Virtual events to promote fellowship and unity
Although they are making progress, there is plenty of work left to do! The COVID Response Subcommittee meets monthly on Zoom.
